How do you measure the benefits of Smart Home Devices in your life. I give the example of installing Smart Home Devices for my daughters Plant business and how it allowed staff to have weekends free (almost) and the setup clearly showed a good ROI (Return on Investment) as well as subjective improvements of giving the staff more freedom at weekends. So a double win. So using that as a start point I tried to use the same measures for the Smart Devices that I’ve added to my house. In one case, for the Wifi Switch for my Hot Water Heating, which uses about 2/3 of my daily power use, I can show a clear ROI for that device. For the others not so much. From the point of Microprocessors and sensors that I’ve tried to build smart devices from scratch, a complete fail to date from a ROI perspective, but great from a personal learning perspective. For the other prebuilt Smart devices, they do add a little value but I cannot see the justification from an ROI, and only to a very small extent from a subjective qualitative measure, in my personal life. From someone with a busy work life, something like a Robot Vacuum could increase the quality of their lives as its allowed free time instead of doing a chore that they would normally need to do. Overall I’m trying to figure out how you need to measure the success & value of adding Smart Devices to your life. From a geeky male point of view as a hobby, definitely fun, and if that is what you want to invest your time and money into, great. But I cannot see it, at present, as a ROI justification. I hope this is of help to you, if so, can you please give a thumbs up for the video. Muchas Gracias Please visit my blog for similar topics: https://max-drake.cc Kind regards, Max Drake
