In Spring 2020, UCLA Bruins enrolled in Food Studies M176 "Making Films about Food” (cross-listed with Community Engagement and Social Change and Public Affairs). This was an introductory course in documentary film production that focused on screening, discussing, producing, directing, and distributing films about issues concerning food in Los Angeles and the advocacy organizations that specialize in these issues. Students worked in small groups to produce short documentaries about partner organizations in LA that advocate for healthy, local, sustainable food, food practices, access, ethical production, and reduction of food waste. Due to current events, the course focused on how the Covid-19 pandemic has affected these issues and organizations. This documentary is about CCED (Chinatown Community for Equitable Development).
