http://midwestjournal.com365/ Finding one's purpose in life is easier than thought - and its mapped by a bell curve... I disagree with James Allen on his description of purpose. Of course, I went down the same line as he for a very long time. However, people do or don't "know" their purpose in life as they move through it. Finding out what it is can be fairly simple - but you have to track what you are doing and what makes you feel good... And people are mostly following a common purpose that they've been given all their lives - which is to get a job, get paid, and buy stuff you need. This is how the society is set up and what makes it run. The bulk of the people exist in the middle of the pack - the hump of a bell curve. At each end are people driven by purposes - the higher end has the noble and very pro-survival purposes. This is where enlightenment happens and is what drives our humankind culture forward. The "lower" end are people hell-bent on destroying things. And the only reason (to my understanding at this time) that good wins out is that the destructively oriented people are also destroying their own health at the same time - as well as their relationships. This main bell curve lives in following neither black nor white purposes - but all sorts and manner of shades of gray. And that is perfectly OK. As you learn releasing - which is simply looking at something for what it is and letting go of any influence on you - it becomes more and more obvious that this is the way life has been set up on this planet and universe. People are just doing what they are determined to do. The bulk of society lives out their lives simply seeking a better life for them and their children - and mostly succeed, so that's not a bad thing at all. And the truly bad in life are destroying themselves continually. Of course, there are people who take the job of corralling these few so they don't make everyone else's lives miserable. These are the law-makers, and law-enforcers. This is, of course, a simplified overview - but it's a model to understand the scene out there. My disagreement with Allen is to say that it's some sort of sin to not have a high purpose and work toward it - or that you are made weaker in some fashion. Yes, it is true that you can tap into untold amounts of energy by having and following the highest purpose you can find. But that's not for everyone. Your own purpose is found to be as personal and individual to you as you are. You find it by tracking what makes you feel good. No kidding. You find what you like to do, what routinely makes you happy, what you could talk about forever - and as you track these good feelings, you'll find repeating actions and currents in your life. All you have to do is to narrow your focus to these flows and you will eventually find a set of actions which are your purpose. And as Steve Jobs found - living each day as the last day of your life means: if you die doing what you are doing now, will it have been worth it? "Dying with your boots on" preferably would mean doing what you love best in life. For then your life has "meaning." It doesn't matter if you are getting paid to play baseball or soccer or a musical instrument, or just farming a small plot of ground in the middle of nowhere. If this is what makes you happy and brings you peace, then it's worth every second you invest. So - start now to find out what makes you feel good. And start living the rest of your life in greater peace. http://gothunkyourself.com
