I recently went to check my brother, Baakir Tyehimba, on the land he founded with a group of people. It was beautiful being in the southern heat with him as he works to build an intentional community for Black people based on African values. To me, this goes hand in hand with what I seek to do with my music. I spoke about Baakir a few weeks ago in my video about my time in New Orleans.
