FAMOUS Otis Elevonic 411M Traction High Rise Elevators at The Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta, GA

Filmed on December 29th, 2024 with ‎@QEElevators . Here's another LONG OVERDUE retake of some more VERY FAMOUS Atlanta Hotel Elevators! The 72 story Otis Elevators at the Westin Peachtree Plaza, one of the tallest hotels in the Western Hemisphere! And unlike my last visit in 2016 where I was only able to take these down from the Sun Dial Level on 72 and not be able to go back up, this time, I was a GUEST in this hotel and I was able to make it all the way to the top going up! These elevators are Smart Carded, however interestingly, unlike other smart card systems I've seen in elevators, these let you select the highest floor of whatever zone your key grants you access to. So even though my room was on 56, I could go up to 60. Thankfully though, someone else staying in a higher zone than me got on the elevator allowing me to go up to 70 one time. These elevators are pretty nice, and interestingly, despite having Series 4 brailles and Rectangular style indicators, these have Series 2 style panel mounting and Series 2 style indicator digits. As to what exactly these are, I'm not 100% sure, but this mod is definitely unique compared to other Otis mods of the era. The cabs are also very nice too and fit in with the style of this hotel very nicely, and the thin Old Otis doors are definitely cool too. With this all being said however, these elevators are probably due for a 2nd modernization... While I'd be sad to see these go in their current form, during my stay I waited OVER 5 MINUTES for an elevator to come at times, not all of the elevators worked during my stay, and these elevators got VERY PACKED because of this combined with an ongoing convention at the hotel going on as you can see in the video. These are also WAY too slow for the amount of floors at a measly 1000 FPM, and these could definitely benefit from a Destination Dispatch mod with a speed increase to 1400 FPM. As to whether or not this will happen is yet to be seen, these elevators did get new lanterns in the lobby recently so right now it's not looking likely. As these currently stand though, they're okay but could definitely be better and more efficient.
