GAIAPRESS continues to shed new light on the wonders of nature, including theories that used to be considered unscientific or have long been ignored, in order to gain a new perspective on science. GAIAPRESS : http://www.gaiapress.com/en/ WHAT SCIENCE HAS FORGOTTEN : http://www.abiroh.com/en/ Senses and Suki : http://www.abiroh.com/en/category/sen... Winter brings a thick layer of snow to the Tohoku Region. Hunting communities known as Matagi would form groups and enter these snow covered mountains to hunt for bears until the mid 20th century. The Matagi stubbornly protected their unique ways as the world around them rapidly modernized. The Matagi learned their way of life from the forest, respecting the values it represented rather than those of man. I've been entering the forest since childhood, so I understand the habitat of the wild animals living there. Like where wild birds fly and where wild rabbits hide. The forest taught me everything I know. Prey are closely observed and behavior patterns predicted. Snowstorms are intuitively forecast and appropriately prepared for. The forest can't be survived without honed senses. You have to experience the mountain in all sorts of weather or you won’t be able to deal with a variety of situations. Mountain weather can change rapidly. You need to know where to go in an emergency. Or what course to take when water levels rise. You won’t know without experience. The Matagi would hunt for what they needed, and only ever took what the mountain god permitted. Matagi Culture may have something to offer us in this modern age, especially as coexistence with nature is a pressing current issue. http://www.abiroh.com/en/senses-and-s...
