#dance #yoga #intervista Dance, Yoga, and Psycho-Physical Balance with Stefania De Giosa The interview with Stefania De Giosa focuses on the interaction and integration of dance (from classical to contemporary, tap, release, flow work, Tai Chi) and yoga (integral, pranayama, meditation) in her professional career. Interview Highlights The Journey: Stefania began her career as a dancer and dance teacher at a very young age. The Discovery of Yoga: After years of a predominantly physical approach to dance, Stefania says she felt the need to "be still" (meditation) and discovered yoga, which revealed a more intimate and internal way of experiencing the body. Body, Energy, and Emotions: Yoga led her to discover the world of subtle energies and to understand that the body is not only physical, but also emotional and energetic, since matter itself is energy. Integration and a Healthy Approach: Contemplating movement in an energetic (holistic) way completely changes the approach to dance, making it more integrative and healthy. This creates a psycho-physical balance, allows for more fluid movement, and greater expressive quality. Dance as Art, Not Just Performance: Stefania highlights the risk of dance turning into a mere "performance quantity." She emphasizes that dance is an art, and yoga is perhaps the mother of the arts because it brings us back to essence, to listening and self-observation. The Role of the Dancer: The dancer must express his or her vision of the world through the body, allowing the audience to see themselves in that movement (empathy). Teaching: Stefania has been teaching since she was 22, recognizing that her students teach her so much through this ongoing exchange. Age Range: She currently teaches young people and many adults, including those who approach dance through yoga. The Essence of Dance: At the heart of dance is energy, music, and harmony. The body, in this approach, "comes second." Objectives: The approach can be for professional training, but dance is also a way to understand life and achieve well-being at any age.
