Today we remember Pope Saint Hilary (Hilarius), the 46th Bishop of Rome, who served from 461 to 468 AD. Before becoming pope, Hilary was a deacon and papal legate at the Council of Ephesus (449), often called the “Robber Council.” There he courageously defended orthodox teaching against heresy and narrowly escaped with his life. As pope, he worked tirelessly to protect Church unity, strengthen papal authority, and safeguard true doctrine. He also contributed to the development of Christian Rome through important church constructions and reforms. In this episode, we explore: His dramatic role at the Council of Ephesus His defence against heresy His efforts to preserve unity in the Western Church His architectural and liturgical contributions to Rome Pope Saint Hilary reminds us that unity and truth must be defended with courage and humility.
