STNR ssessment and treatment
STNR or the Symmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex, is a normal infant reflex that helps with development by dividing the body into upper and lower halves, but it becomes a retained STNR when it doesn't integrate (disappear) by 11 months. This reflex helps an infant transition from belly crawling to hands-and-knees crawling. When the head is brought towards the chest, the arms bend and the legs extend; this helps the body separate into two halves to prepare for crawling. A retained STNR can impact a child's development, causing issues with posture, hand-eye coordination, concentration, and can manifest as skipping the crawling stage or other developmental delays
