We then head down Giltspur Street past Pye Corner to the site of Greyfriars Monastery on Newgate Street. Passing St Paul's Cathedral we enter the area that was dominated by Blackfriars Priory. Here in Playhouse Yard we stand within the site of Blackfriars theatre established by James Burbage in 1596. William Shakespeare was involved with the theatre and bought a property in Ireland Yard in 1613. We see the deed for the property in the gallery of St Andrew by the Wardrobe along with the Shakspeare Memorial. We also visit Church Entry and St Anne's Blackfriars churchyard.
