Most people do not know how to properly clean their ears! You should never put q-tips in your ear. Ear wax is a normal secretion of the glands, it actually protects the outer part of the ear. Earwax becomes a problem when it bunches up and blocks the sound. Q tips can actually act as a plunger pushing the wax further down the ear canal. Earwax works it way out of the ear normally. As the wax works its way out, debris comes out with it. Earwax can cause a blockage when you use headphones, q tips, fingers or wash cloths to clean your ear canal. The wax collapses on itself and blocks the ear drum. Ear monitors and hearing aids can cause wax to build up and get pushed down into the canal. People do not know how to clean their ears and they actually push the wax further down in the canal. To clean the ears, you can use peroxide. Try not to use water. A few drops of peroxide can cause the wax to bubble out and release. If your ear canal is still blocked you should seek help from an ear nose and throat doctor.
