The future is now - steel cut for Northern Lights project at Stord

The Northern Lights project is progressing. Northern Lights will transport CO₂ from industrial customers by ship to Øygarden on the Norwegian west coast. Here it will be stored temporarily before it is transported via pipeline for permanent storage in a reservoir 2500 metres below the seabed. On 26 April we cut the first steel at #AkerSolutions Stord for what will become the pipe rack between the ships and the storage tanks. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is an important technology to reduce emissions, and the Northern Lights project is part of the Norwegian full-scale CCS project Longship. #NorthernLights is owned by Equinor, #Shell and #TotalEnergies.
