Defamation Case Against ANFA General Secretary In March 2025, Thapa filed a defamation lawsuit against ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai. Thapa accused Rai of making baseless allegations, including claims that Thapa had embezzled Rs 170 million from ANFA and later deposited Rs 80 million into ANFA's account following a money laundering investigation. Thapa denied these allegations, calling them unfounded and an attack on his character. He filed the case under sections 306 and 307 of the Criminal (Code) Act, 2074, seeking legal action and compensation. Ongoing Tensions and Legal Battles The ongoing disputes between Thapa and ANFA highlight the persistent tensions within Nepalese football governance.
