On the 26th of September, 1768, during the Indra Jatra festival, the King of Gorkha Prithvi Narayan Shah made a sudden attack on Kantipur. The troops of Jaya Prakash Mall fought for some time, then they surrendered but the king Jaya Prakash Mall fled to Patan. After eleven days Patan was also attacked by the Gorkhas. The six Pradhans of Patan were ready to surrender before King Prithvi Narayan Shah. The King of Kantipur Jaya Prakash Malla and Tej Narasimha Mall, king of Patan went to Bhaktapur.
