"Kurt Cobain had 3 times a lethal dose of heroin in his system when he died." - What does that mean?

On April 14, 1994, police records were released regarding Cobain's hospital stay at Harborview Medical Center after a heroin overdose which happened in May year before. But Cobain had started to clean up his act during the last few months of his life. He was detoxing and talked about it being brutal at times. Still, Courtney Love insisted he go to rehab. People close to him thought an intervention was a bad idea. All besides Geffen and the woman he kept threatening to divorce, Courtney Love. The circumstances around this "intervention" is a whole other topic. Much like the events surrounding what happened in Rome, but for the sake of sticking to one topic, I'll leave it at that for now. Back to the released Police Report... At the time, State Law did not require reports or toxicology results to be released, but it wasn't against the law to obtain them either. Part of Cobain's toxicology results were reported which included papers stating tests detected both heroin and Diazepam in his bloodstream. (Some newspapers reported the drug as Valium.) The tests also recorded a 1.52 mil ltrs per unit measure of morphine. (Heroin toxicity turns into morphine after it's metabolized. This is why test how high the concentration of morphine is.) *Please note this is not the same as how many grams of heroin he injected. That quantity is irreverent due to the varying strengths of the drug. 1 gram could be more powerful that 3 depending on the quality and so on.. This is why toxicologists test the absorption of organs and the toxicity levels of the blood to determine how inebriated a person was.* The only people who weren't concerned by the results of Cobain's blood tests were the Seattle Police Department and King County medical examiner who recorded these findings. After the news spread of these findings, many toxicologists, drug experts, and medical experts made comments about it calling the level "alarmingly high, even for an addict." "Three times the amount a lethal amount" and suggested that it raises questions about how he died. "That's a high concentration by any account." -Doctor Randall Basellt, of the Chemical Toxicological Institute of California commented. "This raises the question of weather Cobain was attempting to kill himself with an overdose, or weather he was not in control of himself when he was shot. A dose of half that amount could be fatal in certain cases." A London CP, who worked as a specialist in cases of addiction and heroin poisoning for about 20 year, told NME Magazine in an interview. As soon as people began speculating, police began to back peddle. Some stated they weren't sure if those were the right numbers and others claimed to have forgotten the interview they gave about the number being a non issue, and some just said they had nothing to do with any of the reports being released because it was against the law. Well if that were the case. why didn't they look for this boogie man law breaker? (cough, Courtney, cough) who gave out copies to anyone with a pulse.. hmm?.. Regardless, here are the questions: How fast does a person's mobility, coordination, etc change after they shoot up. Does heavy IV use vs moderate IV use make a significant difference in these reactions? How high was Cobain's tolerance level at that point? A lot of questions. Another thing I want to point out is the scene is Kurt and Courtney where they show a person who snorted 1.25 grams and was not inebriated. That's not what Tom Grant was looking for. Tom Grant is the detective Courtney Love hired to "find Kurt" (who, ps. left her a message and phone number when he "ran away" and wasn't missing..) She was covering her ass and as a matter of fact is recorded in a phone conversation with Larry (Hole drummer's brother) asking him to put a wire on someone's phone to find out if Kurt was having an affair. In this conversation she says, "all I care about is covering my own ass" which is a strange thing to say when your husband is missing ans ever soooo "suicidal", don't cha think? mm..yeah. Tom Grant worked hands on with Courtney, the police, and the people close to this case during that time period. He asked for someone to show him one case of a person injecting that high of a concentration of heroin, who didn't pass out immediately. The director of Kurt & Courtney showed footage of someone who had snorted 1.52 grams which is like snorting a pinch of baby powder and needless to say, very very very different than injecting a potent amount of heroin into your bloodstream and trying to stand up. 1.52 grams is not even close to what 1.52 mil liters per unit of blood measures but many people are not aware of the difference, including Nick Broomfeild. MUSIC RIGHTS TO: UMG (even though they belong to Krist and Dave.) but thanks UMG. (sorry for the typos at the beginning, i didn't catch it till now..)
