Join us on our family adventure from our quiet mountain village in Switzerland to one of the busiest cities in the world — London 🇬🇧! We arrived on Wednesday and couldn’t wait to start exploring. On Thursday we headed up to the Sky Garden 🌿, London’s famous indoor garden high above the city, where we enjoyed incredible views over the skyline. From there we stopped by Paddington Station — one of London’s historic railway stations opened in 1854 and home to Paddington bear 🐻 — where we even caught a glimpse of Princess Anne passing by! Our walk then took us through the beautiful Kensington Gardens, once the private gardens of Kensington Palace and still part of the royal parks today. We passed by Kensington Palace 👑 itself, the historic residence where several members of the royal family have lived, including Princess Diana. Friday was all about seeing London from the water. We hopped on the Thames river bus ⛴️, which gave us amazing views of some of the city’s most iconic landmarks — Tower Bridge, the London Eye 🎡, and Big Ben. Did you know Big Ben is actually the nickname of the great bell inside the Elizabeth Tower? We got off near the Palace of Westminster and explored the area before walking through the lovely St. James’s Park on our way to Buckingham Palace 💂🏿♀️, the official residence of the British monarch. After all that walking we were getting hungry, so we stopped at a traditional pub near Piccadilly Circus for some classic British food 🍔 🍻. Of course, the kids couldn’t miss a visit to the giant M&M’s store — a colorful paradise for chocolate lovers! We then wandered through Chinatown 🏮before heading back to the hotel. Saturday was extra special — it was my birthday! We spent the morning at the British Museum 🖼️, one of the world’s most famous museums with over eight million objects in its collection. The highlight for me was the stunning Reading Room 📚, once used by famous thinkers like Karl Marx, Mahatma Gandhi or Virginia Woolf. To top it all off, I got a wonderful birthday surprise: afternoon tea 🫖 at the restaurant on top of the museum — a perfect way to end an unforgettable trip. For a family used to the calm of a small Swiss mountain village, London felt incredibly vibrant, diverse, and full of life. From royal palaces to historic museums and bustling streets, this trip showed us just how exciting a big city adventure can be.
