2026 Kia EV6 GT Review – Kia’s Electric Supercar

THIS IS THE NEW 2026 KIA EV6 GT. The Kia EV6 first came in 2022 and won several awards incl. the 2023 World Performance Car Award, and What Car – a UK car magazine - awarded the EV6 the title Best Family SUV in 2023. And now it has been facelifted, with more power, better equipment, new front, new 21” rims, a new rear design and more. Kia’s history goes back to 1944. In the 50ies the Kia Industry Company produced bicycles, later motor bikes and small transport vehicles. It was not until 1970 that the car manufacturing started, back then based on Fiat 124. The is the EV6 GT and it is the high-performance car in the Kia line-up, offering a whopping 650 HP and 770 Nm of torque in GT Launch mode. The top speed is 260 km/h and 0-100 km/h takes just 3.54 seconds. It is 470 cm in length and 190 cm in width plus mirrors, so it is not a small car by any standard. The 650 HP/478 kW come from a 303kW motor driving the rear wheels, and a smaller 175kW front motor which powers the front wheels. As with most new Kia’s, the design of the EV6 is distinctive, with a contemporary and premium feel to it. The coefficient of drag is a fairly high 0.287. The range topping GT with 650 HP, with the new 84 kWh battery, of which 80 kWh are useable, costs 71,900 CHF. Red metallic colour is the only standard colour, and there are four optional colours one of which is this Wolf Grey which costs 830 CHF extra. The glass sunroof is 1500 CHF extra and all Kias get a 7-year factory warranty and 8 years for the battery. The GT comes fully equipped with all sorts of gadgets and driver-assist systems. You get a heat pump as standard, and Kia promises an avg. consumption of 20.9 kWh per 100 km/h, despite the 21” rims, 4-wheel drive and the massive power and insane accelleration. We tested the consumption to be 19.5-20.4 kWh / 100 km over our 750 km test including a trip over one of the Swiss mountain passes. It also has a smart parking system which allows remote parking using the key fob. The GT comes standard with the safety pack which gives you 360-degree cameras, blind-spot monitor camera, and front and rear parking sensors. There is a fair amount of space in the EV6; 20 litres in the frunk, and 480 litres in the back and it easily holds a bicycle if you fold the seats in which case the capacity increases to 1260 litres. The tonneau cover stows away in the bottom of the trunk which is a nice feature. The car weighs 2295 kg and can pull a trailer up to 1800 kg. Kia uses their high-tech E-GMP platform with 697-Volt technology which allows for super-fast charging. It charges from 10-80% in 18 mins and the max. charge speed is 258 kW.
