http://www.nsmoc.com/ Viewing centrally, this 36 year old female's left hip is in good shape; however, probing anteriorly, the laburm is found to be severely degenerated. This is caused by an adult acquired type of pincer impingement due to ossification of the labrum. Damaged tissue is cleared. Viewing laterally, the magnitude of the disease is more evident. The labrum is quite degenerated. Dr. Byrd demonstrates labral debridement, which brings into view the bone and the pincer component. The pincer, caused by the ossified labrum is then corrected by the high speed burr. This begins posterolaterally, and then working anteriorly. Lastly, with the burr in the anterior portal, the recontouring of the rim of the acetabulum is completed. Final inspection is performed, while all bony debridement is being removed as meticulously as possible to limit the likelihood of reformation.
