Meet Piper, Our 2025 Children’s Miracle Network Champion

At just four years old, Piper was diagnosed with an extremely rare bone cancer called Ewing Sarcoma. Over the course of 14 rounds of chemotherapy at Children’s Hospital Colorado, Piper found a source of strength and comfort in Ralph, a beloved member of our Medical Dog Program. After 28 weeks of treatment, dressed as Wonder Woman with Ralph by her side as a unicorn, Piper rang the Warrior Bell to celebrate the news of being cancer-free. Inspired by her journey and the healing power of Ralph’s companionship, Piper went on to write and illustrate her own book, My Buddy Ralph. Today, Piper is a lively, creative elementary school student — and the proud owner of a Golden Retriever of her own. Piper’s story is a testament to the hope, healing, and resilience made possible by the generous shared communities of Children’s Colorado and Children’s Miracle Network.
