Foraging Color in the Mountains | VLOGMAS DAY 5

Today was one of those days that reminds me why I make art the way I do. Slowly with the earth, and with the world around me. I started the morning by climbing up the mountain roads here in the Mexico City countryside, collecting a bit of exposed pigment by hand. I've been looking at this bit of earth and am glad I was finally able to collect a sample. There is something ancient and grounding about being in the dirt and gathering color straight from the land. It brings me back into my body every time. Since we still don’t have a car, I’ve been walking everywhere. Honestly… it’s been a blessing. These long walks through the pueblo, past the dogs and tiny tiendas and the smell of wood smoke, force me to slow down. Life feels softer this way. At the end of my walk, I headed to my partner’s family home, where we’re getting ready to go find our Christmas tree, but that’ll be tomorrow’s video. 🌲💛 Thank you for being here for Vlogmas.
