Westrex T530-A This is a driver developed and commercialized by Bert Locanthi during the JBL days. Made by Lansing at the request of John Frain of WESTREX. JBL 375 To add to historical data, the JBL 375 itself was not a Jim Lansing design, but the JBL 375 design was derived from the Westrex T530A SMA horn unit manufactured by JBL on behalf of Westrex in 1953 (similar in appearance and design to the early Model 375 gray unit which are nearly identical). Westrex T530A itself is an enhanced design of the Westrex 594A. While everyone else has the same 4-inch aluminum Voice Coil wire and aluminum film design, the Westrex 594A is a line exciter, while the Westrex T530A is a line cobalt (Alnico) magnet. The Westrex T530A was published in 1953 and launched in January 1954, while the JBL 375 was launched in April 1954. So you could say the Westrex T530-A is a prototype of the JBL375. In this video, we are trying to repair and upgrade from the T530-A to 375. A significant difference is found in the Tube Horn throat, which was originally Pvc to Bronze Brass.
