Mary Washington Healthcare continues to prepare for the spread of COVID-19 in our community. The health and safety of our patients, associates and visitors are paramount to everything we do. COVID-19 is a growing concern in our community. We closely follow information and recommendations from the CDC and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) to stay current on confirmed cases and ensure we offer the best care to our community. We also collaborate with other local health organizations, like the Rappahannock Area Health District, to monitor the health of our region. Dr. Eric Tosh, Emergency Medicine Division Chair for Mary Washington Healthcare, explains why MWHC is preparing now for the possibility of a large influx of patients with COVID-19 symptoms needing emergency care. He walks us through the preparations, in particular the efforts to develop a pandemic field hospital on the Mary Washington Hospital campus. By taking this step now, the health system hopes to minimize risk to our patients, their families and our associates. The public should continue to practice frequent handwashing and stay home when feeling ill. For the most current and up-to-date information on visitation and COVID-19, please visit http://www.mwhc.com or follow us on social media.
