Join us as we take a history lesson on the Boston Mayfair as it celebrates its 900th Year, from selling wool around the world to having a spin on a thrill ride we take a look back at what makes the fair one of the most history-rich fair in the UK. The Boston May Fair is one of the largest street fairs in the UK but was born more from its steep history as once the UK's 2nd biggest trade port than its entertainment. Back in the 1100's the fair was started to help traders and families come together to broker trade deals and showcase their merchandise, other countries would send their top business people to the town to make new agreements and add to existing agreements. Over time the fair has adapted to cope with the loss of trade and the collapse of the Sheep Market that once was the staple of the town industry. In Modern times the fair is now entertainment focused and some of the largest and most impressive rides visit the town for 8 days, some of the rides are well-known in the UK including Albert Evan's Atmosphere Creator which also has a seasonal spot at the Hull Fair, George Burrows Jump and Smile that also attends the Nottingham Goose Fair, Dane Crow/ William Crows 6-Arm Extreme Ride that also attends The Hoppings Fair in Newcastle.
