Various tracking shots of burnt and destroyed villages not far from Tskhinvali (populated by ethnic Georgians) STORYLINE: Russian military helicopters continued to carry out reconnaissance flights over the border between South and North Ossetia monitoring any potential threat to Russian troops and civilians in the region on Wednesday. An AP Television crew was embedded with Russian forces on a Kremlin facility over the border area and in the devastated capital of South Ossetia, where evidence of bombing was clear to see. Residents of Tskhinvali, the site of some of the fiercest fighting between the Georgian army and South Ossetian rebels backed by Russian troops, spoke of their fears about a Russian withdrawal on Tuesday. "They (Russian troops) should stay here, there is no way out. If the Russian troops leave, we must leave too. In this case we have nothing to do here. We can't live here without the Russians," said concerned resident, Marina. Now those residents remaining in Tskhinvali are afraid that once the Russian troops leave, Georgians will make another attempt to restore Tiblisi's rule in the breakaway region.
