Experience a rare aerial look at the Payatas Dumpsite through stunning shots captured with my DJI Air 3s. In this video, I placed 2017 footage side-by-side with today’s view, revealing how dramatically this once-infamous site has transformed. For decades, Payatas stood as Metro Manila’s largest open dumpsite, dating back to the 1970s. It became a symbol of the city’s waste challenges and the communities that lived and worked around it. But its history took a tragic turn in July 2000, when a massive garbage landslide claimed hundreds of lives and triggered nationwide calls for change. This event led to the passage of the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act (RA 9003) and eventually reshaped the country’s approach to waste disposal. Fast-forward to today, Payatas is no longer the towering “garbage mountain” it once was. Following its permanent closure in 2017, the site has been undergoing rehabilitation and is now being converted into greener, safer spaces, including a bike park and urban recreation area. This video captures the stark contrast between what Payatas was then—and what it has become now. Watch the full transformation from the air and see how far Quezon City has come in waste management, environmental recovery, and community redevelopment. #Payatas #PayatasDumpsite #QuezonCity #WasteDisposal #GarbageCollection #EnvironmentalAwareness #PhilippinesHistory #UrbanTransformation #SolidWasteManagement #SustainabilityPH #DroneFootage #DJIAir3s #AerialView #Environmentalist #EcoFriendlyPH #CommunityRehabilitation #PhilippinesDocumentary #BeforeAndAfter #MetroManila
