Mumbai is facing yet another rain-induced crisis. On Tuesday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced the closure of all government and semi-government offices, except essential services, after the IMD issued a red alert for “very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.” The city and its suburbs recorded over 180–230 mm rainfall in 24 hours, leading to widespread waterlogging at Dadar, Matunga, Parel, Sion, Hindmata, Andheri Subway, and parts of major highways. Rail services on Central and Western lines were delayed due to waterlogging and a technical snag. The BMC has urged private firms to allow work-from-home to reduce travel chaos.
