Bei der Verlagerung des Schneidprozesses unter die Wasseroberfläche wird der Plasmastrahl durch ein rotierendes Wirbelgas vor dem Wasser abgeschirmt. Die UV-Strahlung des Lichtbogens wird gefiltert sowie die Lärm- und Staubbelastung deutlich gesenkt. Die kühlende Wirkung des Wassers reduziert den Wärmeeintrag in das Material, sodass kaum Verzug entsteht und die Nachbearbeitung nahezu entfällt. Mit den Stromquellen der HiFocus-Reihe werden ausgezeichnete Ergebnisse, z.B. bei Edelstahl, erzielt. The cooling effect of the water reduces the heat input to the material, so that there is almost no distortion and almost no re-work is required.
