Video Transcription: My philosophy is that I treat each patient the way I would treat a family member, and to do this I get to know each patient individually; not only their diagnosis and imaging, but where they were before their diagnosis and their disability, how they're coping with it presently, and where they want to go with it. It's not only about the x-ray or MRI, it's about these other factors that play a significant role in the treatments that I offer. Options like physical therapy, conservative strategies like exercise and stretching regimens, injections and minimally invasive options, minimally invasive surgery or traditionally open surgeries. All these options are things that I would discuss with each patient. Specialized Training - I specialize in the entire spectrum of adult spine surgery. My residency and fellowship training ranged in procedures from radiation therapy, to brain and spinal tumors and other pathologies in cooperation with radiation oncologists, to minimally invasive surgeries, performed through a tube and a one-inch incision, that are often outpatient, or the same same day or the following day discharge. All the way to complex spine reconstruction, deformity surgery, which includes pathologies such as: kyphosis scoliosis, and surgery for spinal tumors that would often involve, and require, a full day of operating. I applied and was selected for a combined neurosurgical and orthopaedic spine surgery fellowship and why that's unique is it is one of the few in the country that truly incorporates orthopaedic-trained spine surgeons and neurosurgical transplant surgeons and getting that unique perspective from both fields is important, and is important to me as a part of my training. Embracing This Community - I grew up in the suburbs of New York City, I met my beautiful wife there, and our families are both from there. Growing up on the East Coast, we would often travel to the Carolinas, we always wanted to end up here. When the opportunity to move to outside of Charlotte and work for Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates arose, we thought it was a tremendous opportunity. We knew Concord, Huntersville, Davidson, Cornelius and all the surrounding neighborhoods. We love these towns, they're a beautiful community, full of hard-working people that love to get out and enjoy their beautiful surroundings. When they see their surgeon, they're seeing him because they want to get back to work, they want to get back to the things they love, and I'm happy to be here.
