Carol Ann Wheeler's performance during the Monday night certified competition at the National Fiddlers contest in Weiser, Idaho 2013. She won "Best Female Entertainer" (Monday night) for her demonstration of various fiddling styles: Old Time, Swedish, Irish, Scottish, Cape Breton, Canadian, Klezmer, and Gypsy. A brief note of apology to both Sweden and Norway as the tune played during the "Norwegian" section is actually of Swedish origin, from Dalarna. We believe the second tune in this section is a march called "Min Levnads Afton". (thank you to fiddler Nils Olof Soderback for the correction) A brief note on Tamlin: Tamlin was composed in 1974 by DAVEY ARTHUR, who lived in County Kerry, Ireland. Davey said, "This is one of my first reels I composed, way back in 1974, and to date is probably is the most played and recorded of the tunes I have written. I can imagine that it's so popular because of its unusual chord format of Dm-Bb C-Am Dm which gives great rise and drive to the tune." Thanks to videographer Stephen Schauer.
