Spring, in its splendor, breathes new life into the arts, driving the artist to triumph over the inertia that gathers with his ceaseless journey delving into himself, to burst into a fresh spurt of creativity, changing his distinctive lines and colors to dig out of his dream space a galaxy of faces--as Jogen Chowdhury unravels in his new exhibition, 'In my new language'. The painter at work throbs with ideas and visions alike, some of which he carries into his writings. Jogen Chowdhury's writings register his thoughts, realizations, and musings over his long journey beginning in Chennai when he settled there on his return from Paris in the 1960s, chanting his future course in the prose piece, ' What do I paint? Why do I paint?' and then continuing over the years all along his artistic journey, exploring and interrogating the intricacies of artistic creativity, and engaging with several issues all steeped in profound subjectivity. Debovasha launches the publication of a three volume collection of the artist's complete writings--'Jogen Chowdhury Rachana Samagra'-- with the release of the first volume on 7 March 2025.
