Organic Green Grass Compost -(Watch Full Video For More) This method is a classic example of Aerobic Composting, where you balance "Greens" and "Browns" to create nutrient-rich organic manure. 1. The Ingredients: Nitrogen vs. Carbon To get high-quality compost, you need a balance of two main elements: Green Grass (The "Greens"): Rich in Nitrogen. This acts as the "fuel" for the microorganisms that break down the waste. Cardboard & Dry Leaves (The "Browns"): Rich in Carbon. These provide energy for the microbes and add structure to the heap, allowing air to circulate. 2. The Process (Layering Method) Step 1: Shred the cardboard into small pieces and mix them with dry leaves. Place a thick layer of this at the bottom for drainage. Step 2: Add a layer of green grass on top. Step 3: Keep alternating these layers. A common ratio is 3 parts Browns (Cardboard/Leaves) to 1 part Greens (Grass). Step 4: Keep the pile moist (like a wrung-out sponge) but not soaking wet. 3. Benefits Faster Decomposition: The nitrogen in the grass speeds up the breakdown of the tough cardboard and leaves. Soil Health: This compost improves soil structure, helps retain moisture, and provides essential nutrients like Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K). Waste Management: It recycles garden waste and household paper/packaging waste effectively. 4. Important Tips Aerate: Turn the pile once a week with a shovel to provide oxygen. Without air, the compost will start to smell bad. Size: Chop the cardboard and grass into small bits; the smaller the pieces, the faster they turn into soil. In about 2 to 4 months, the mixture will turn into dark, crumbly, and earthy-smelling organic fertilizer. #composting #organicgardening #gardeningtips #wastemanagement #sustainableliving #diycompost #malayalamgardening #krishi #jaivavalam #organicfarming #kitchengarden #homegardening #organicfarming #organic
