The first round sea trials are complete and here are the results. It was a beautiful mid-week day launching from the Dunedin Florida Causeway. The winds were predicted to be light and variable the day before with steady winds of 5 - 10 mph so the plan was set and I headed out first thing in the morning to see what the Kruger Dreamcatcher could do under two Falcon Sails. I brought a 1.4-meter sail for the bow and a 1.1-meter sail for the mizzen behind me and launched from the busy beach. It was a headwind to start, then close reach sailing for most of the day, with some beam reach and downwind sailing mixed in there as well. Winds were a bit more stout than originally predicted with steady winds at 15mph, but it was a great day to test things out. I leaned a few things, found a few things to improve on and gained confidence in the set-up. I hope you enjoy the ride and stay tuned for more trials and tribulations before the Everglades Challenge and beyond.
