(22 Jul 2017) The mother of an Israeli soldier who shot and injured a Palestinian alleged by the Israeli army to have killed three members of the same family while they were celebrating the birth of a grandchild, spoke on Saturday of her shock at the attack. Rachel Moss was in her house having dinner on Friday evening with her family when they heard an attack at a settlement across from their home. A Palestinian, now identified by police as Omar al-Abed, had jumped over the fence of the settlement and killed a man and two of his adult children while they were celebrating the birth of a new grandchild. A woman was also injured. Rachel Moss's son and husband heard what was going on and her son got his gun and eventually shot al-Abed, who was wounded and taken to a hospital. Israel's military has now sent more troops to the West Bank and placed forces on high alert in response to the attack.
