“Loading A Norfolk Southern Coal Train” Today, we’ll take an in-depth look at how coal trains are loaded in the Appalachian Mountains. We will follow the train down a “branch line” and then over to the coal loadout, where we will take the seat of the operator and load some coal. We also get to have a bird’s-eye view of the whole operation including the loading process. Our train is also sporting Norfolk Southern’s “Southern Railway” heritage locomotive, which is a nice touch to the occasion.
