Author: Szymon Trocha & Antoine Delvaux from PSNC and representing the perfSONAR project Date: Friday October 12th, 2018 Title: Two-Way Active Measurement Protocol (TWAMP) and perfSONAR Abstract: A few months ago, the perfSONAR project has published a new tool to run latency measurements with the Two-Way Active Measurement Protocol (TWAMP, RFC-5357). This tool can be run from the Command Line Interface (CLI), is integrated with pScheduler and pSconfig and will be integrated into the perfSONAR toolkit in an upcoming version. On top of giving access to more accurate round trip measurements than the ones from ping, TWAMP is interesting when compared to OWAMP because it can target devices not running perfSONAR themselves but that are part of the core network. TWAMP enabled devices are available from different routers and switches vendors. This makes them very useful measurement targets to help debug network performance issues quicker. The talk will present this new TWAMP implementation and demo its use on the CLI. The demo will make measurements towards other perfSONAR hosts and to 3rd party network equipments running the TWAMP protocol.
