Goodwood Battle of Britain 75th Anniversary Flypast 2015

Good wood Aerodrome Ex RAF Westhampnett hosted a Battle of Britain Day 75th Anniversary Commemoration and flypast on 15th September 2015. During 1940 and throughout WW2 the airfield was in service as RAF Westhampnett, initially as a relief landing ground for fighter aircraft based at nearby RAF Tangmere, but within 2 months of the start of the Battle of Britain the airfield became a fully fledged fighter station from which squadrons of Hawker Hurricanes and Supermarine Spitfires flew during the battle. On 15th September 2015 thirty three aircraft were brought together at the airfield, later flying in sections across London, many of the Home Counties and South East England where 75 years before the courageous pilots of the RAF had fought in similar aircraft against the might of Nazi Germany's Luftwaffe and the Italian, Regia Aeronautica Corpo Aereo Italiano.
