Watch as we separate two small basil seedlings and transplant them into larger pots so they will grow into bigger and healthier individual plants. In this video, we first take a look our tiny basil plant grown from seed to make sure it is ready to be divided. We looked for two things: 1. The basil has at least 2 true leaves. 2. Check the roots to see if they are touching the bottom of the pot. Next, we removed off the smallest seedling. Then we separated the two larger seedlings...very gently. LOL (see if you can count how many times I said very gently!! Time for the young seedlings to get their own pot. 1. Add a little soil in the bottom. 2. Place the separated seedling inside. 3. Add soil around the roots while holding the seedling in place by its leaves. 4. Tap the container to help the soil settle in around the root system. 5. Water it in. That's it! Now your young basil seedlings are ready to go under lights and will have plenty of room to grow strong and healthy root systems! Be sure to watch the next video in the series to see when to start pruning your young basil plant.
