Unknowns behind the closed doors | Sohrab Rahvar | TEDxTehran

Copernicus showed a great unknown to us. That earth is not the center of the universe. A big step for the human. He opened the door and showed us something unknown. In this talk, Dr. Sohrab Rahvar tells us how reading Alice in Wonderland in his childhood motivated him to discover the world and beyond. He asks -- and answers, how the effects of the discovery of extraterrestrial life in our life? Sohrab Rahvar is a Prof of physics and astrophysics at the Sharif University of Technology for the past 20 years. His interests are both in the theoretical basis of physics as well as investigating the cosmology and extra-solar planets beyond the solar system. He introduced and predicted some physical effects that were later discovered by the other astronomers. He is also working in an international collaboration for discovering exoplanets and until now could discover more than 40 planets. Their final aim is the detection of signatures of life outside the solar system. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
