Codependency is characterized by an excessive reliance on others for approval and a sense of identity and self-worth. Codependents often prioritize others' needs over their own, have difficulty setting boundaries, and may feel compelled to "fix" or rescue others, even when it’s to the detriment of their own well-being… Narcissists are skilled at quickly assess someone's receptivity to love-bombing tactics as well as to other psychological manipulation tactics. Once a codependent allows a narcissist to highjack their rewards pathways, it will be very very difficult for them to break free from the relationship no matter how bad it gets.
