A culinary enterprise wasn’t on these engineers' minds, but their limited cumulative savings ruled out most other options. And so, they ventured into the food business with a small ‘stand-and-eat’ darshini style South Indian vegetarian tiffin eatery. With no background in the space, they invested nearly a year in learning basic recipes, honing them before opening in Jayanagar, South Bengaluru. Cut to the present, and Bengaluru Café has emerged as a hugely popular neighbourhood tiffin stop. I visited them recently to see how they operate and also to taste most of their evening tiffin menu.
