The Lich King is the final boss of Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion solo adventure. He gains different advantages when facing different classes, so specific strategy is needed for each class. Beating him the first time gives you a free pack of KotFT cards. If you are able to beat him with all nine classes, you get the young Arthas Paladin hero portrait! Phase one: His initial Hero Power is summon a 2/2 Ghoul. On his first turn, he casts a powerful spell that gives him big advantage. What spell he casts depends on the class you are playing. For Warrior, it gives the boss 100 Armor. Together with the normal 30 Health and 30 Armor, this means you need to deal at least 160 damage to him! Phase two: On his seventh turn, he equips the Frostmourne sword which removes all his minions, and summon six 2/6 Trapped Soul minions. His Hero Power changes to passive that gives him Immune as long as he control a Trapped Soul. Phase three: Once all the Trapped Soul are killed, Frostmourne is destroyed automatically and the Lich King becomes vulnerable again. His minions removed when he equiped the Frostmourne are resummoned with full health. More importantly, his Hero Power changes to "Deal 1 damage to the enemy hero. +1 Damage each time." This means his Hero Power will gradually do more and more damage, so you need to kill him before such damage becomes too high! Also, he sometimes summons a 0/5 minion that destroy one of your minion randomly at the start of his next turn. Other powerful minions he may summon include The Black Knight, Maexxna and Bonemare. Strategy for Warrior: One way to win this fight is to use minions that gain attack continously, such as Frothing Berserker and Scaled Nightmare. Phase two can be stalled to give time for those minions to growth, as well as allowing your Armorsmith to stack Armor for you. During phase one, keep board control with Blood Razor and, when your health is 12 or less, Revenge. Make sure you have a Brawl in hand. Once the boss summons Trapped Souls in phase two, cast Brawl so that only one Trapped Soul remains. After that, summon your taunt minions, Scaled Nightmare, Frothing Berserker and Armorsmith. Make sure your taunt minions can always absorb both attacks from the boss and the Trapped Soul by having at least two taunt minions, or one taunt minion with 6 or more health. Taunt minions with low attack is preferable here as you do not want the Trapped Soul to take too much damage. If you want to prolong the stall, heal the Trapped Soul with Hozen Healer or other healing minions you have. Alternatively, if you have Kel'Thuzad, summon him and a taunt minion and the boss will do nothing for the whole phase two! This way, you Scaled Nightmare can growth to enomous size and one shot the boss in phase three! Make sure the Trapped Soul cannot die during the boss' turn. Otherwise, he will cast Obliterate or Blizzard followed by Shatter to kill your Frothing Berserker or Scaled Nightmare! Therefore, when the Trapped Soul only have 1-2 health left (depending on the attack of your taunt minions), kill it and go to phase three. If the stall is done correctly, you shall have stacked good amount of Armor and have a couple of pumped up minions to attack. Nevertheless, after the pumped up minions attack, they are still likely to be killed the next turn. Continue with similar strategy by using your remaining big minions to grind down the boss and use taunt minions to protect them.
