Barcelona weed and Amsterdam-style coffee houses. No, they don’t exist in Barcelona. So everybody is thinking about weed. There is weed and there are smoking clubs in Barcelona but they are not legal for tourists. They are called cannabis clubs but you have to be a local member. I don’t have experience with the cannabis clubs but I hear that the established one are sticklers for the rules. What that means is that the local cannabis clubs don’t want to sell you anything. They don’t want to get shut down just so some tourists can have a fun weekend. That said, you can probably find anything you look for. Especially on the Ramblas. I want to give you a tip: AVOID EVERYTHING ON THE RAMBLA, except maybe the street performers. It’s a great place to walk but it is ground zero for over-priced products, a real over-blown tourism bubble. Be warned. I hear stories of tourists being offered an Amsterdam-style, coffee-shop experience. If you try, you might find something like that. It’s not legal and I wonder if that is really the environment you are looking for. I mean, if you really want that, go to Amsterdam. Weed and pot are not legal for tourists in Barcelona. It’s not fun to deal with cops in your own country. If you really want to get in trouble, do it in your home country. That’s my advice. Have a great stay.
