We invited Dragons' Den investor and successful entrepreneur, Deborah Meaden to Millmoot Farm, an organic beef farm in Somerset, to see some of our science in action. With a keen interest in the environment and sustainability, Somerset-based Deborah discovered more about the work we do in collaboration with landowners, like Millmoot’s Joe Stradling who wants to farm and produce food in a way that is good for the environment too. Deborah met with Biodiversity Scientist Dr Jenna Lawson and Environmental Research Scientist, Dr Ross Morrison. Together, they take Deborah through the importance of biodiversity monitoring and the value of peatlands, all of which support farming, food security, and reducing emissions while helping wildlife at the same time. 00:00 Intro with Deborah and Charlie 00:11 Joe introduces his farm 00:21 Ross discusses how peatlands work and why they matter 01:10 Introducing the flux tower 02:20 Jenna describes the importance of biodiversity 03:03 New wildlife monitoring technologies 03:20 The "moth photo booth" 04:06 Why this monitoring is needed #farming #food #sustainability #sustainablefarming
