Pro Tools Automation: Modes and Automatch

Pro Tools has Off, Read, Write, Touch, Latch, Touch/Latch and Write Automation Modes. This can be changed in the Automation Mode Selector either in the edit or mix window. When automating the mode selector becomes red and you see you automation moves in red on any automation graphs open in the edit window. Touch starts writing when you touch a fader then stops when you let go. Latch starts the same but keeps writing until you hit stop or perform an automatch function. Hitting the Automatch button in the Automation Window will stop all writing parameters on all channels (Global Automatch). Command Clicking the Automation Mode selector on the writing channel (Mac) turn off all parameters on that channel while leaving other channels writing (Channel Automatch). Touch/Latch has faders in Touch and all other parameters in Latch. Write is dangerous because it is always writing across all parameters regardless of what is being touched.
