“Around The Lake” is a very personal and somewhat nostalgic song. My 🖤 father passed away suddenly at age 47 when I was 18. I couldn’t say goodbye to him and continued my life without him. My memory of him is that the two of us often went for walks together around a lake in my home country and had conversations that, among other things, also prepared me for life as an adult. At some point, I realized that I missed these conversations and that they gave me stability at the time. During my lifetime, memories caught up with me, and I longed to go around the lake with him again. The video was very emotional for me. We decided to work with different timelines and flashbacks. A particular challenge was getting an actor to play my father and a young man to play me around 18. The father type doesn’t correspond to my father; he seems more youthful. But then, I consciously decided against imitating my father, whereas the young man bears a certain resemblance to my youthful self. A very emotional moment was when my father came on stage after an imaginary performance in the now, put his hand on my shoulder, and we talked again. He asks me how my life has gone, and I ask him where he has been all this time. That was the moment when the actor had to swallow. For me personally, the empty auditorium symbolizes that I’m only singing the song for him. There is a beautiful metaphor in the song »And I see only your footsteps in the sand« based on a spiritual poem. I am walking on the sand with my father, but I only see two footprints in the sand, which are his because he is carrying me. The song’s plump, ballad-esque chorus ends on a major chord. On my end, a certain sadness about the loss is ultimately replaced by a positive feeling. In the end, there is gratitude and confidence. Thanks 🌹 to the video team at 80 White. On the full-length, which will be released on 12/08/2023, the Rhineland-Palatinate artist lets the mysticism of Rhine Romanticism shine in new splendor. Sophisticated, melodic and timelessly beautiful Rock music full of imagination and depth, wrapped in a warm and powerful sound, forms the musical cosmos of JOHNROSE. Thereby, he falls back on his longtime experience in Prog and Rock cover bands and inspires besides the high-class instrumentation with subtle lyrics. The Rock Poet from the Middle Rhine wanders unerringly between the musical spheres of melodic Prog, AOR and elegant Art Pop so that each of the twelve songs sounds unmistakably like JOHNROSE.
