In fact, I think that fixing your kids lunches are the best time to introduce some new food items that they may not eat at home. Cause here's the deal: whatever's in front of them, is all they have to eat. Think about it. At home, you make dinner, they don't like something or even want to try it! And sometimes, what do we do as mom's? Offer something else! At school, there are no options (well, besides hot lunch, but that's besides the point lol!) So try out some new veggies and fruit on them. It truly is the perfect opportunity to get your kids trying out new and delicious foods!
