October was a Quebec progressive rock group, originally from Montreal, Quebec. He was formed in 1971 by four childhood friends: Pierre Flynn (lyrics and music, vocals, piano, keyboards), Jean Dorais (guitar, choirs), Mario Legare (bass, choirs) and Pierre Hebert (drums). It is the first French-speaking Quebec group to have integrated a progressive style (a style very popular in the 1970s) to its rock repertoire. This explains why he played in the first part of a King Crimson concert in 1973. The group ended its activities in 1982. Even if October did not have a great popular success like Harmonium and Beau Dommage, it nevertheless marked the Quebec musical repertoire of the time. It should not be confused with the French group October (1982-1984) resulting from a split from the former Marquis de Sade formation.
