Showing the difference between one of the most the Vevor Acciaio Steel Anvil compared to a cast iron anvil commonly found at Harbor Freight. I have become aware of the Doyle anvil at Harbor Freight. The Doyle moves the pritchel to the face, addressing one of the main criticisms of the Vevor Anvil. If you have a HF nearby, see if they have the Doyle - it should be bright red. Do not purchase an iron anvil like the top one in this video. Iron will deform quickly when struck by harder steel, such as a hammer. Steel makes for a much better blacksmith's anvil. The iron anvil rebounds about 40%, while the cast steel anvil rebounds about 80 to 85% which is a good indicator of hardness. While the iron anvil lacks a pritchel and hardy hole, the steel anvil's pritchel is not properly supported. This can be fixed later, but is of poor design (again, go examine a Doyle at HF). It appears that the 50 kilo version of this anvil that the Pritchel is slightly better design than the 30 kg, being flush with the face, but is still placed slightly into the horn of the anvil. The 10 kg version also has an improved placement, but is very light. 00:00 Intro 00:12 Iron vs Cast Steel Anvil 00:56 Sound with Hammer Strike Comparison 01:20 Ball Bearing Rebound Test 02:10 Summary 02:25 End
