Police use helicopter to chase Audi during Forest Bank day of action

This is the moment police gave chase after an operation to tackle organised crime in jails outside HMP Forest Bank. Video released by Greater Manchester Police has revealed a dramatic 70mph pursuit through the streets of Salford after a prison visitor 'in a stolen car' saw the major police operation to stop drugs being smuggled into the prison and fled. The black Audi A3 performed a sudden u-turn and sped away from the jail on Wednesday morning (October 23) where an operation was underway to stop the tide of contraband being smuggled into prisons via drones and other methods. It prompted waiting patrol cars to give chase. The police helicopter was also soon overhead amid a pursuit which topped 70mph. A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police later confirmed that the car was suspected to have been stolen. The car was abandoned and the driver fled but a suspect was later detained with the help of a police dog, the spokesman confirmed.
