For those of you fortunate enough to have listened to a full-range pipe organ in a cathedral, you know the awe-inspiring sound and bone-rattling tones generated by the lowest-registers of the organ. When this piece was recorded (1981), the popular means of reproduction were vinyl records, which could not handle the extreme bass generated by a pipe organ, otherwise the needle would skip on the turntable during playback, therefore, much of the very low frequency range was rolled off during mixing and mastering. However, reproduction systems have advanced in the decades since this album came out and a piece such as this demands to be heard with the full dynamic range of the cathedral pipe organ as intended. I have attempted to restore the lowest octave of the organ (see if your system can handle the 16Hz C0 note at 3:31) as well as make adjustments to add more fullness to the kick-drum and tame the upper mid-range frequencies. If you are old enough to have bought and listened to this record when it first came out in 1981, and you imagined what the chest-pounding air from the huge pipes on the organ on this piece would sound and feel like, and if you have a system that can handle it, then I invite you to crank up the volume and experience this magnificent duet between pipe organ and drums. Remastered by Patrick Dobrinen Equipment used: Avid Pro Tools, iZotope RX Advanced, MAGIX Sound Forge Plug-ins: Avid D-Verb Waves C4, Kramer Tape, LoAir, Q4, WLMPlus Voxengo Elephant, PrimeEQ
